Plan covered parking around your property

A carport should be planned around the vehicles, the approach, and the space already available on your property. Chelle Renovate & Build is based in Englewood, serving homeowners in Charlotte and Sarasota counties. Describe whether you are considering an existing structure's repair or a new covered area.

Measure more than the parking space

Include the height and width of the vehicle, room to open its doors, and the route used to park and leave. If you have several vehicles or equipment, list the items that need cover and the ones that only need nearby access.

Consider how the covered area relates to the garage, entry, driveway, and yard. A convenient parking position on paper may need another look when you trace the daily movement around it.

  • Bring vehicle dimensions and photographs of the approach.
  • Identify gates, walkways, and nearby planting areas.
  • Explain whether the aim is repair, replacement, or new cover.
  • List any existing structure records you have.

Assess the existing property

For a repair, photograph the affected connections and surfaces as well as the whole structure. Discuss what appears damaged and what you want to retain without assuming that the visible issue defines the full work.

For a new area, compare placement and the relationship to the home before settling on appearance. Ask which attached or freestanding approaches are available for your property and how the existing ground surface, connections, and drainage would be assessed.

Clarify structure and finish responsibilities

Ask for the actual structure and material options proposed for your project, along with their supporting specifications. Clarify who handles any design, engineering, approvals, site work, or specialist tasks, and how those responsibilities will be recorded.

Discuss the visible finishes, adjoining gutters or downspouts, access during construction, and the review of completed work. If lighting or storage is part of the idea, make it a separate scope question. Call 941-310-0600 with your town and the type of vehicle cover you need.
